Fast, wild and big-haired, Fabrizio had plenty of talent, shown in his winning the inaugural Indy Lights Championship in 1986, and a rookie podium at the Indy 500 in 1987. But a struggling AGS was no place to start an F1 career, and a stint with Minardi the following year didn't much help either.
