They really need to forbid these kind of practises, they are harmful for the spectacle the powers-that-be are so keen in promoting.

And it was so easy to prevent this... (Not starting the race on qualifying tyres for HWNSNBM's sake!!!)

I agree, it probably is harmful. But at the same time, it's not as there is nobody out there fighting for pole. And to honest, except when an unlikely driver from outside the big 5 teams breaks into Q3, do most of us really care how rows 4 and 5 stack up?

Hamilton damns Button with faint praise.....

Jenson did a fantastic lap so there is obviously great time in the car.

Jenson is definitely very strong. That means we have good pace in the car and means we are strong.

That post reminds me of Bernie's comment about nobody caring if someone is 9th or 11th.

The problem is, the rules are such that it is more beneficial for the teams not to set a lap and save their tyres than it is to try and set a lap time - as Kimi pointed out in Bahrain, it was more beneficial for him to qualify in 11th with additional sets of fresh tyres than to qualify in the top 10 and use up his tyres, especially given how quickly the current tyres give out.

That's because it was usually justified whenever he inevitably found a wall, gravel trap, another car or generally anything to have an accident in. This year, he's stopped crashing as often but decided to be mostly anonymous instead

I'll try and defend him, only because he's a Williams driver.

His crash into Hamilton at Spa was out of order, a rare case where i'd defend Hamilton.

I personally can't call qualifying.

My race prediciton however is a Lotus win, probably Raikkonen.

Well, he did not even try to improve his time so there must have been some technical issues which always helps getting a reprieve.

Karthikeyan spun, according to the HRTwitter. That, coupled with the technical problems in FP2 and being in 107% in FP3, could be enough to get the stewards to overlook that he missed the arbitrary barrier.

And the fact he had major electronical issues in FP2.

Nearly following Montermini's example of having the mother and father of all big shunts at the last turn during his hotlap didn't help either.
