Bernie Ecclestone: I'm a raging idiot

We don't need an American Grand Prix
We don't need a Canadian Grand Prix
We don't need a British Grand Prix

We DO need an Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

My question is, how is this happening when Vanuatu hasn't even been considered?

Although Bernie does have a point when he says that the British GP shouldn't be cut slack, we do need a British GP and Silverstone is one circuit that should be kept in the calendar always.

Let us hope that good sense prevails and we do not see F-1 being shipped to a country that doesn't give a damn about F-1.

I don't know what could have happened if he'd have taken action in those scandals, sadly.

And he was saying earlier in the week that Senna's death is good for F1... I'm wondering if he's taking Max's leaving too hard, and he's been left mentally deranged. Perhaps Todt could take over Bernie's job and Vatanen could work Mosley's job? Both guys working together would really result in a positive result, I think.

He said that Senna's death got a lot more people watching F1 - which is true - which in turn is a good thing for formula 1. Trouble is, he has such a tactless and blunt way of expressing himself that he ends up getting in trouble. For a man so savvy with the media, you'd think he'd stop and consider what he's going to say before he says it.

I think the fact of the matter is, if Bernie were treated like any other politician or CEO, he'd have been forced into resignation dozens of times already. Hell, people have been fired for far less than Bernie's antics. I just think he makes a good point of showing F1 isn't a democracy, it's more of a dictatorship, complete with questionable elections.

You are taking his quotes out of context. He makes it quite clear that he's willing to deal with SIlverstone, but if they expect a better deal simply because they're "traditional", they've got another thing coming. In the wake of the political crisis this season and a global recession, Formula One needs t be looking towards its future, not its past.

I think that Bernie is becoming too old and senile, and he doesn't want to leave without a bang... :D

And he's gone on record as saying he'll remain at his post until he dies. Talk about going out with a bang

Besides,

We probably don't need an American Grand Prix.
We need a Canadian GP because the track is great and I love it, not because it matters much where it is.
After years of wrangling against Silverstone and seemingly getting rid of the BRDC, going back and asking to host the race there is not Bernie's idea of a nice evening.
Stay home, Colin Kolles!

Isn't Bernie an employee now of that shadowy bank consortium that he flogged the F1 rights to ? Surely he can be sacked, I think that a career move for him in the near future is quite likely.
Get well, Robert.

Knowing him, he'll probably die in the middle of a season, or a race even.

Maybe he'll go nuts and pull a Neil Horan-esque performance, only this time the first car that encounters him doesn't wa - ahem, manage to dodge him.
