Gentlemen, since 2009 was the year when F1 Rejects created a forum and joined Twitter, I wish to propose another technological development: a Fantasy Racers league.

It's very simple. You register, give a name to your team, and just choose your drivers. Each driver has a certain price. You are given a limited budget to spend on the drivers you want. Their prices will change throughout the season and you can sell and buy drivers between races. Your team will get points from the drivers performance.
Scoring is USA style. Drivers get points for qualifying positions, for finishing in any position up to 19th, one point for each lap completed, etc. For example, I used Luca Badoer in all the races he participated last year. Thanks to that one point per lap thing, he scored more points for me than the drivers that failed to finish those races.

Every registered team participates in the large Fantasy Racers League, but there many private leagues, which are the main reason ppl are there for. I'm suggesting a F1 Rejects league, for all of us F1 Rejects fans.

Now, Jamie and Enoch, if you two are reading this, I know you're thinking "What's in it for us???" :evil:

Simple. It's not just teams competing in leagues. There's also a league... of leagues. Several F1 fan/news/opinion-making sites have leagues there, like Sidepodcast (which won the last two seasons), Autosport, HelloF1, VivaF1, etc...
This your chance to get some publicity, and who knows, maybe give some of those other sites a lesson. Don't worry about the number of people. Only the average score of the top 5 teams of each league counts for this league of leagues. Hell, the Tifosi di Ferrari league had only 5 teams and it finished 7th, out of 224, at the end of the season.

So, who's interested in this? If there's enough interest, I would ask that maybe Jamie or Enoch register and create the league. The league doesn't need any sort of management afterwards. You all just need to manage your teams, if you decide to change drivers throughout the season. Those who did not choose the Brawn drivers for the first race of 2009 regretted it later on

I played this on the last two seasons in the Sidepodcast league, with my team Super Andrea Moda, and it's a fun hobby that doesn't consume any significant amount of time. Please think about it.

Not when I play a fantasy league. I take it way to seriously, study form and stats, and deliberate for hours over every decision.

But don't let that deter the rest of you if you're interested. I'll see what Kuwashima thinks about starting up a league.

I played it last year (with five teams* containing varying levels of management, all part of the Sidepodcast league) and would be pleased to help out with any queries. One thing to bear in mind is that only the first 100 teams can be part of the fivesome which count towards the team's scoring. If F1 Rejects gets a lot of people in, a second league might be worth considering. Also note that each team may join two leagues.

Basic principles of play:

- If you want a team which doesn't require much maintenance, choose the 45m-and-no-changes option. New for 2010, this enables you to select a more expensive team, but you only have to do anything to change it if one of your selected drivers can't race for some reason. Otherwise, select the 40m-and-changes option.

- It's generally best to buy low and sell high. Prices only change once per race and alter according to performance (and possibly popularity, but that might have been removed for this year).

- If in doubt, buy drivers who you think might finish the race or at least make it a decent way into the race before retiring. It's no use picking someone who wins half the races if this is the race where he crashes out in the first corner because an F1 Reject completing the race will easily outscore a champion in a broken car.

- Don't feel you need to spend every dollar. Points are given out for spare change up to $20m.

- Make sure you are happy with your team before the 5pm GMT Friday deadlines. Where possible and practical, use free practise information to help you (some tracks, such as Canada and Brazil, don't allow you to see free practise before selections are locked, and Real Life can get in the way at some other circuits depending on your lifestyle).

- Inconsistent drivers are your friend in this game, especially if you can figure out their inconsistency pattern. Buy when they've just had a bad spell and sell just after they've finished a good one.

- If one of your drivers is injured, substituted out of F1 or otherwise declared unavailable for a race, get them out of your team at the first opportunity. You're better off getting money from the change than automatically losing their value in pointage.

* - You have to donate money to get multiple teams, but I'd advise starting out with just one unless you have plenty of confidence. One well-managed team will outperform five badly-managed ones.

Sure, why not, my semester is just about finished, with only the final exams coming up, so I'm going to have a lot of boredom for the next one and a half months. And even after that I'll (hopefully) be working, so any free time I have will really be free time as there's no homework to do anymore.

I'm heading now for El Calafate (Perito Moreno glacier, as you may know it) and then for Ushuaia.The very south end of the world and a place where maybe (in Calafate) I could be prevented to access to internet due to or lack of technological development.

I hope I'll reach this on time (i'll be back to Bs As just for a day after leaving again for another holiday location in Uruguay) in february 10th.
