None? Was that the race that both Dale Coyne drivers didn't even start the race?

I think that you are correct - both drivers are recorded as having crashed out in the warm up (I can only assume that one driver ran into the other driver and took him out), therefore neither driver even started.

The only reason I know it is because Marshall Pruett mentioned it in an article a while ago and it stuck in my memory.

Actually, Geoff Boss lasted a grand total of half a parade lap before he backed it into the barrier. Gualter Salles meanwhile lasted until the formation lap to throw his car into the nearest wall.

Here's another one:

Why did Emerson Fittipaldi leave the Lotus team at the end of 1973?

Because Chapman refused to enforce team orders while he was fighting for the championship. Peterson kept taking points off Fittipaldi which prevented Emmo from winning the title.

This is where a 900-page F1 encyclopedia comes in handy.

Just out of curiosity, what was the answer that you had come across? Was it that Fittipaldi suspected the Lotus 76 would be a failure, as indeed it proved to be?

Tommy got it. More specifically, Emerson left after Chapman refused to implement team orders at the 1973 Italian GP after the two had come to an agreement before the race that if Ronnie was leading and Emmo was 2nd in the race, Chapman would give a sign to tell Ronnie to let Emmo through.

Here's another fairly easy question:

On the Borg-Warner Trophy, the name of 1950 Indianapolis 500 winner Johnnie Parsons is misspelled on the trophy. In 1991, the handlers of the trophy at the Speedway Museum proposed to have the name corrected but eventually decided against it. What was the misspelling and why wasn't it changed?

It was misspelled as Johnny Parsons and I have no idea why it wasn't changed.

I know it's pretty late but between you guys, you got the answer. Anyways, here's another relatively simple one:

Before yesterday, when was the last time Fernando Alonso, Kimi Raikkonen and Michael Schumacher finished on the podium in the same race, in that order?

I'm guessing at some time during 2005

Using some thought,Raikkonen was nowhere near the podium in '06,Alonso wasn't good in '05,so it must be 2005.

Where, though,is tough.I remember Alonso winning a few early and mid-season,but Schumi didn't pick up much pace till mid-season.So my bet is the French Grand Prix,as that is one of the races I remember Alonso winning mid-season without Raikkonen retiring.

It was indeed the French Grand Prix. 5 HWNSNBM points for you

They did indeed finish on the podium in Canada 06 but Schumacher was 2nd and Raikkonen 3rd that day.

And in both cases, there is a Mercedes-powered driver, a Ferrari-powered driver and a Renault-powered driver, but with each driver having swapped in the meantime.

Think he means Schumacher, chief. ;)

Though still, he was right in the title fight until his engine went up in smoke in Japan.

Also, even if Alonso passed Petrov in Abu Dhabi 2010, he still needed to get past Rosberg and Kubica to take the title.

It may be the not-perfect picture quality, but it looks like Kimi andMichael have lost weight whilst Alonso has gained some. Just by looking at their faces. It's true that Schumi was on a strict diet/training programme when he was at Ferrari and the same for Kimi at McLaren, and now Alonso is at Ferrari he might be on the same thing as Schumi.

Just something I noticed...

I'm gonna hazard a guess at the other World Champion being Jackie Stewart, the reason being Stewart's horrendous crash at Spa in 1966, where the medical facilites were absolutely abysmal and Hill had to use his own clothing to try and treat Stewart's injuries until he could actually get some actual medical attention, which in turn led to Jackie Stewart becoming the first real advocate for safety in F1.

That could work too, but it's not the answer I have in mind. I saw that Hill did indeed take Stewart's overalls off to prevent further burns, but nothing about Hill taking off his own...

Didn't think so - I don't think Hill and Stewart were in the pitlane when that happened anyway. Worth a guess, though.

I'd have said James Hunt, though if Graham Hill is one of the answers then clearly Shunt wasn't involved. Bah!

So am I, although I am guessing that the reason might be that, in a similar situation to Stewart, that their racing suits were covered in something like fuel or oil, hence why they ditched their suits.
