Minardi And Jordan

Postby WeirdKerr » 26 May 2012, 07:22

Interesting that with the exception of Hamilton and Button all the champions in the last 12 years have at one point in their careers driven for either of these 2 teams(Vettel counts cos of the Torro Rosso/ Minardi connection...)

So, with the exception of Hamilton, Button, Räikkönen and -sorry- Vettel, all champions of the last 12 years have gone through either Minardi or Jordan. Which makes it two, Schumacher and Alonso, out of six.

Not that impressive.
Go home, Bernie Ecclestone!

"So, no KERS?"
"No kerbs, KERBS, as in the side of the circuit."

and Nicolas Kiesa, who did drive for Minardi and did a couple of Fridays for Jordan!!!

One of a rare few to have 100% reliability record (min. 5 races)

Well 3 in the case that Toro Rosso used to be Minardi, so Vettel sorta counts in the fact he drove for "Minardi"

But still, it is about as impressive as Vettel winning a race last year

Maybe Albers too? Raced a year for Minardi then went to Midland (who were basically Jordan but with Russian mafia gangsters and no mad EJ)

okay, when i have to put Albers in the list of 'true greats', it proves my theory is completely flawed.

Well if the list contains Nicolas-8-seconds-off-the-pace Kiesa, you've gotta have Albers.

This thread gave me an idea: which team had how many world champions start out with them. Here's the list:

1.: Lotus - 7 (J. Surtees, J. Clark, G. Hill, E. Fittipaldi, M. Andretti, N. Mansell, M. Häkkinen)
2.: McLaren - 3 (J. Scheckter, L. Hamilton, A. Prost)
=.: Brabham - 3 (D. Hulme, N. Piquet*, D. Hill)
4.: Alfa Romeo - 2 (G. Farina, J. Fangio)
=.: Benetton/Toleman**: (A. Senna, M. Schumacher*)
=.: Ferrari - 2 (A. Ascari, P. Hill*)
=.: Hesketh - 2 (J. Hunt, A. Jones*)
=.: (BMW) Sauber** - 2 (K. Räikkönen, S. Vettel)
=.: Williams - 2 (J. Villeneuve, J. Button)
10.: ATS - 1 (K. Rosberg*)
=.: BRM - 1 (J. Stewart)
=.: BS Fabrications - 1 (N. Piquet*)
=.: Cooper - 1 (J. Brabham)
=.: Ecurie Bonnier - 1 (P. Hill*)
=.: Embassy Hill - 1 (A. Jones*)
=.: Ensign - 1 (N. Piquet*)
=.: Jordan - 1 (M. Schumacher)
=.: March - 1 (N. Lauda)
=.: Minardi - 1 (F. Alonso)
=.: Rob Walker Racing Team - 1 (J. Rindt)
=.: Scuderia Toro Rosso - 1 (S. Vettel*)
=.: Theodore Racing - 1 (K. Rosberg*)

* implies driver changed teams during his first season, in which every team he was part of during his debut season gets a title added to their total.
** implies team changed ownership, only done if direct connection is undoubtable.

Interesting here is that we have three reject teams in there (Ecurie Bonnier are quasi-rejects) who each have one champion, i.e. a reject team has an almost 10 per cent chance of producing a world champion - which should shut up everyone doubting small teams.

I sure did - why "C." though? I mean, everybody likes Christian Fittipaldi, but the C is not even close to the E. Why'd I do that?
