RACE

The race for the waffles... sorry, the Belgian GP started with Mann keeping his place and Katayama following him. Fleet did a terrible start, while Frank Zimmer was good, he´s a new man after joining GRM.

Image

Respati did a good start as well, and got even better when he passed Zimmer on lap 2. The first retirement came one lap later, with Ben Fleet opening the account for Foxdale. Then Mark Dagnall started to move upwards by passing Watkinson for 9th on lap 4. Two laps later The Fox´s joy was fulfilled when Douglas Mann retired with a brakes problem and not being able to reach the box, leaving Katayama with a comfy lead. Next big thing came on lap 9 when Martins went off the track and, coming again into the asphalt left Jesus Plaza, who was fighting Scott, with nowhere to go but the back of the Arrowtech, with both drivers retiring inmediately.

Image

Image

Katayama was one of the few to go for 2 stops and went for the 1st in lap 11, and managed to keep the lead after it. Next lap Melrose spun at Eau Rouge, losing his Front Wing and most of his chances. Shizuka also went for 2 stops, dropping to 8th. His strategy was working as in 2 laps managed to pass Watkinson and Mark Dagnall for 6th. John Zimmer was the 1st of the one stoppers to pit, trying to get rid of Chris Dagnall by doing so, but found himself behind both Jones which made him lose time. Then, for a bigger relief of Dagnall drivers, Watkinson retired on lap 19.

Image

De Bock stopped next at the same time Respati passed Frank Zimmer again. Moll stopped two laps later than his team-mate, and it paid off as he kept the 2nd place coming out of the pit lane. This would matter even more when Katayama´s car stopped two laps later, leaving both Gillet´s in the lead at home! Frank Zimmer´s race was over too one lap later which left things like this at lap 30:

Image

With only 13 laps to go, most supposed the race was solved; but De Bock´s car stopped on lap 31, then two laps later Shizuka and Chris Dagnall both retired as well! Things got even more interesing when a group consisting of both Jones, Dave Simpson and Melrose, coming from the back, formed to fight for 5th. Three laps later, Kay Lon would spin under pressure from Simpson, leaving Simpson and Melrose the fight for 6th. So, this was the situation on lap 40/43

Image

Then, John Zimmer surprisingly passed Mark Dagnall... as the championship leader suffered an electrical problem, having to take an extra stop to fix it. That very same lap, Moll car stops giving the lead to Respati! On lap 41, Melrose passes Simpson outside Blanchimont, as the Prospec suffers another problem and retires as well. The race was settled for good... not yet: Another heart-attack ending saw John Zimmer retiring on lap 42, and Respati´s engine blow on last lap, giving the win to Mark Dagnall, with Sammy Jones and Melrose sharing the podium!!!

Image
Image

FASTEST LAP: Shinobu Katayama -- 2.00.468
ROTR: Kay Lon - Couldn´t stand some pressure and that ruined a double podium finish for Jones.

Next year we'll come back stronger. For now, I'll concentrate all the resources in testing and developing next year's car, I can't be bothered about this anymore until next year. And I'll be away from the presses until next year too, so my pal Sammy Jones can have a reprieve.

By the way, I'll keep Ron Mignolet for the next year. He's impressed me as a driver, and his waffles are superb and are doing us a great favour in making money.

After reports of Arrowtech being sold to Prodrive proved false, the colourful Prince Falik who was at the Spa GP as a guest of Arrowtech made a public apology to the Fox, "I, the great prince Falik, apologise to the great Fox for being angry at him after the lies that those journalists spouted. He is indeed a great man and in very honourable. Back in Nigeria, if a journalist wrote something nice about me then they would find themselves recieving gifts from people who appreciate their work, but if they write those poisonous lies, then some soldiers whould find them and spit roast them over a fire of their own lies. This way, they only write the truth and nothing but the truth.". Prince Falik hired some top french chefs to cook lunch for every team boss in the paddock after qualifying, most team bosses were impressed and most said they would comment later, just after they had another glass of Chateau de Francies 1983 and a waffle from Team Phoenix as they had nothing to do the rest of the weekend.

Foxdale would like to say to those team bosses who accuse us of gaining extra free practice sessions, that the fact that we are on pole position means nothing as Foxdale have the majority of the poles so far this season, and competing in pre-qualifying is merely because of the way the rules are laid out. It is beyond our reasonable control that we can't finish a race, and so that has put us into the pre-qualifying group based on results. It would be more controversial if we were just given a place in qualifying without attempting pre-qualifying, wouldn't it?

TEAM PHOENIX SET TO MAKE AN AGREEMENT WITH WIZZIE'S POPCORN OVER WAFFLES

Following on the success the Team Phoenix waffles, cooked by driver Ron Mignolet, are having, TP is set to broker a deal with Wizzie's Popcorn, a popcorn making bussiness property of fellow race driver Daniel Melrose, a source within the team has told.

Neither team owner and driver Phoenix McAllister or Daniel Melrose were unavailable for comments over this rumour.

The deal, it's commented, would be related to link both products to promote them together. We don't know it there's some sort of agreement between TP and any of the teams Daniel Melrose has interests in.

I meant that neither McAllister or Melrose were available for commenting on this very interesting and tasty rumour, sorry.

Autosport wrote:Teams ban Waffles and popcorn from drivers diets

At least 5 teams, including Sunshine and Kamaha have banned their drivers from eating team phoenix's waffles and wizzies popcorn after it was found to contain trace amounts of a sleeping drug as well as large amounts of fat, a spokesman for Sunshine said "We tested the waffles after most of the team wanted to have a nap after eating them and found a tiny amount of sleeping medicine in the waffles, we also noted the high fat content and have banned the drivers from eating them as they would add grams of weight to the drivers and they need to be in tip top shape to race. As Phoenix are in prequalifying for a reason you know.", a spokesman for Phoenix refused to comment, but went "nom nom nom".

Prince Falik on the other hand is negotiating with team phoenix for worldwide rights to sell the waffles saying "I, the great, Prince Falik, know a good thing when I see one and I want a slice of the waffle as they say. With my marketing genius and access to cheap labour as well as knowing lots of important people, I, the great Prince Falik can make Phoenix Waffles a household name, yes, yes, yes!".

After admiting in an interview that being Belgium they are immune to the effects of waffles and that Phoenix should nobble Team Dagnall, the F1RWRS are looking into if the waffles are against the sporting code and if Gillet and Phoenix have broken any rules. If they do find something then Gillet and Phoenix could be brought before the F1RWRSC and charged with unsporting behaviour and could have ponts docked or even face race bans. There are rumours that the wing of the gillet may be a giant waffle that flexes during the race but by the end is rock solid and passes scurintineering.

Belgian GP results up!! -- See the race report for another heart attack inducing end!!

Chris Dagnall said:

Another good day for the team. I passed Mark at the first lap but I decided to give him the position back in order to protect him from any attacks, as we didn´t have the speed to match the cars in front this weekend, so any places he could gain from me defending him would be important. For most of the time I was just trying to hold John Zimmer, who was quick this weekend, and you can see it why as he quickly reached Mark when I retired. In the end of course it didn´t matter but we must recognise we´ve been very lucky today. I continue with my poor luck this year, but as long as we keep the lead in both championships it won´t matter as much. Now I´m off to play golf with Nigel Mansell, thank you.

Trueba would like to spend some credits for the following improvements with a view to the next race:

50 credits to improve the Engine Power;
30 credits for James Davies' Qualifying Performance
20 credits for Giovanni Roda's Qualifying Performance

Credits left should be 20.
Giovanni Roda - The most shamelessy rude and reject driver in 'F1 Challenge' Championship
- And in F1RWRS
- And... oh damn.

Yet another double-DNF for Foxdale? Quelle surprise!

Only this time, we're the first two retirements? Our retirements were coming later and later in the races recently. I thought a finish might come at some point. But clearly it just isn't to be.

The team should really consider a pay-driver already. Or would they enjoy seeing us retire OVER AND OVER AND OVER?

Foxdale ended up with a paydriver in the form of Ben Fleet after just four races, and still have yet to record a finish... After 10 races!

On a positive note we lasted longer then the Foxdales.. As Foxdale have a pay driver and they are still the DNF kings, I can not see any advantage in getting a pay driver. If Hagane or Shinobu want to share a driver then I will consider a pay driver.

Barii Mori wrote:On the positive, both cars made it to the end and 10th and 11th is not too bad a position, on the negative side 11th and 10th were last and 2nd last but on another positive we both were on the same lap and not too far behind the winner. I am hoping that very much that we will be able to merge with FAT as their engines would do wonders for us.

I mean 6.21 and I thanked him for his kindness. There are no rumours that I have offered his $6m to be the lead driver for Arrowtech next season, none what so ever. No rumours that Daniel Melrose will not be retained next season as he has his own team. None, what so ever. Thank you". Mark or Chris Dagnall nor Daniel Melrose were not available for comment.

I have already came up with the idea of giving my seat for as long as it needed to a pay-driver and based on results, I'm the worse driver in the team, so I have to be the first to do this.
