Both me and him are on equal billing. He is, after all, the best performer so far, and who brought the sponsorship and the Honda engines as well. As for the race...I'm just all over myself with emotion. This is the best possible tribute we could have paid to Tommy. He'd be so proud...shite, excuse me...![]()

20 minutes later, McAllister appears with the temporary boss James Callahan, McAllister's race engineer. McAlliser comes completely red-faced after crying.
OK, I have to make two announcements. First, we have already a new team boss that'll help us try to fill the void Tom has left. We'll anounce him soon, but I can say he's bringing some cash as well some infraestructures from his homeland racing team. Second, we'll ran with both cars in black for the second time in succession in deference for Jacques Swater's death, founder of the ECB team. I apologise to our sponsors for all this bothering, and I hope they'll understand the situation.

Thanks to Porsche for supplying the customer units, but we will be using Mugen Hondas from the next race.
Generic TImes wrote:Barii Mori's form has caught the eye of some of the top teams, he has managed to outperform his more experienced team mate and is looking like getting more points this season.
Barii Mori has said he is happy with joining Phoenix for a full season next year and has brought an engine deal and a healthy sponsorship to the team.
Barii Mori @ Gold Coast wrote:It was a bit of a shock that Tom Walkinshaw passed away, we had just agreed terms and Tom was looking forward to seeing the Mugen Honda race, sadly he never got the chance. The Mugens are work in progress and I barely prequalified, did better in qualifying by getting 13th and ended the race in 13th. We will be working hard to get both cars in qualifying at the next race. There are rumours of some top teams wanting my services and sponsorship but I am happy with Phoenix and I think I will get a lot of points next season."

Was surprised at getting my pole, however was surprised to loose places at the start and was in 4th, the engine power was really down so was happy to get a podium with my team mate. It was a fantastic result and I would like to thank the team for giving me such a great car and I drove as hard as I can to get a fastest lap too, my 3rd in the season.

And I sincerely apologise to Mr Dagnall for that most unfortunate incident. Conditions were difficult out there and I just didn't see you there. The cockpit surrounds may be good for safety while you are having the accident, but unfortunately they helped to contribute to this accident starting in the first place. Otherwise I would have gladly avoided another DNF.

I just want to go home now and have a break, as do many others, particularly those who were associated with Mr Swathers and Mr Walkinshaw. They all have our condolences and hope that they can move forwards as soon as they are ready.
Autosport wrote:Footwork to walk?
Rumours are abound that Footwork Logistics are likely to pull sponsorship from the Phoenix team after the second race when both cars ran without sponsorship, moreso that the cars finished on the podium and Footwork did not get any exposure. Sources suggest that Footwork are hammering out a new deal with the new team boss of the Footwork Phoenix team in light of this and Footwork are holding Phoenix to ransom as the Mugen Honda deal will also collapse if Footwork leave. However Barii Mori told Autosport, "There is no truth in the rumours that Footwork will be pulling out, they are in F1 for the long term, although they were not too happy that both cars finished 2nd and 3rd but were in Black, they did understand the reasons. They are talking about plans with the new team bosss as they do own a chunk of the team and are title sponsors plus they are integeral to Mugen Honda bringing works engines to the team. There are also no truth in the rumours that I will be driving for Prospec or Team Calinetic next season or even the following season, I will say I was approached by a top team but I turned them down flat, I enjoy the family atmosphere of Phoenix and I enjoy karting and dining with my teammate between race weekends. I am very sad that Tom [Walkinshaw] passed away as he signed me for a season and signed a sponsorship deal with my sponsor and was pleased that Phoenix had a works engine deal.".

During the rain-pouting race at Surfer's Paradise, Jari Kekkonen scored in fifth place, unrejectifying himself, albeit being two laps down. Kekkonen is very glad that he unrejectified himself, and now hopes that next season will have a better car for the team.

the Masked Lapwing wrote:Wizzie wrote:So... what do I have to do to win the championship?
If you win, you need Spencer to be no better than 3rd, then you'll win on countback (3 wins to 2). If you are second, then you need Spencer to be no better than 6th, again winning on countback (this time due to the fact you have a fourth). If you are third, you need him no better than 8th, and again countback would be your fried (2 3rds to 1). If you are fourth, the championship is Spencer's. All this doesn't involve the points for pole/fastest lap, which could alter it.

AGURI SUZUKI NEW TEAM PRINCIPAL OF FOOTWORK PHOENIX
Aguri Suzuki, ex-F1 race driver and owner of the Aguri team in the Japanese GT Championship, has been appointed as the new Footwork Phoenix team principal, a month after the death of Tom Walkinshaw from cancer. "This is a great challenge for myself, a challenge that I'm very much looking forward to. The Footowrk Phoenix team has a lot of potential and is run by very professional people. Both his drivers are wilful, skilled and determined. I'm sure we can all walk to the top, sooner or later." Meanwhile, the team will join forces with the Aguri GT Team and will benefit from its installations, while strenghtening their ties to Honda. In fact, the team is already building a factory close to the Suzuka track. Finally, the team will now the named Super Aguri Footwork Phoenix Honda. Phoenix McAllister, founder and driver of the outfit, has this to say: "Come on, you acorn-eating bastards, get down there and fight!...Erm, sorry. I'm very glad Mr. Suzuki has accepted the offer. It's the most capable replacement I can think of. We trust him to do a very competent job, and indeed he'll make our team stronger at all camps. It's a really useful, and I hope a succesful, partnership." The team has also made public their new chassis for the next season, called TWR02:

Although glad the track did dry and get quicker but disappointed with 13th on the grid and being behind Douglas Mann. Hoping for rain... or to at least finish in front of Mr Mann.
