Dramatic season. Wendlinger was leading at the time of his accident in Monaco. Coulthard was dropped by Williams also while being in the lead (this makes some of these alternative championships very funny), then Frentzen made miraculous leap with two successive wins to lead. Alesi was nine points behind before the final race. But he won it and Frentzen failed to score (indeed he was 7th, with Alesi passing him about 10 laps from the finish).

I like seeing how far down Schumacher is! Also I thought "how on earth did Hill get a win in this"? Then it twigged which race it was, all I can remember about the finishing positions was Schumacher and Larini and I'd forgotten the rest.

DC was really strong in early season, but then he scored only once in last five races, while Ralf won two of those races. Button's tally is quite impressive considering he failed to score in first nine events (of course that includes two-race ban for BAR, one disqualification and Indy)

It was surprisingly close between Heidfeld and Fisichella. Fisichella scored in 16 races which kept him in the battle very long. Ferrari scored a rare 1-2 in Hungary, and de la Rosa beats the driver he replaced!

Another debutant champion. It was quite good margin, Kovalainen scored only two points in last three races. Apart from Alonso being a bit ahead it's very close between McLaren and Ferrari drivers. And of course it's notable that Takuma Sato wins Spanish GP in Super Aguri!
