Autosport wrote:Davies to bring magic touch?
Davies shocked the F1 world by signing up with Hungerian Life, does the 2 time F1 World Champion know something about the Team that caused Mori to sign up too? Could they be the dark horses in the championship? We are not sure, the untested Forti chassis could be quite nimble and they have the upgraded EV type of the V10 Judd engine.
Our Predictions
Our three teams to win the championship would be
JLD Motorsports, Ferrari Chassis with the newest Ferrari engine, do on paper look quite a combination and we have high hopes for White in a decent car as well as Garwon who could surprise.
Stavros GP, also have a Ferrari chassis with the older but still powerful Ferrari engine, have they choosen this for reliability? Signed the talented Melrose and the BTCC Champion Blackwell.
Benetton Formula have choosen the McLaren chassis which in the past has been very good as well as the powerful Benetton engine, although question marks remain over the selection of the young Nicolo and Jones who have only manged fair results in F3000.
Our predictions for surprises of the championship
Hungerian Life, choosen a new chassis and signed up two drivers who know what the podium looks like.
Chicago F1 Racing, Sauber Chassis with Fast Ferrari engine with up and coming talented pay driver Ben Fleet could bring them to the podium a few times, Carlo Waladi is an unknown but he seems to have impressed a lot of people in lower formula racing.
Aurora signed up pay driver Carlitos Mils at the last minute but his signing means they can afford the powerful Renault engines, if the Lambo chassis can perform well, Mitchell can show his talent and Mils can show he is more then a pay driver then I can see a few podiums
Our predictions for strugglers
Russian Bears have the untested Forti chassis too but have a tried and test Ford HB engine however Sarkozy is bring lots of money but is he bringing any talent? Should be outperformed by Buyvolov.
Foxdale Auto Racing, although the Chassis and Engine and main driver Briggs should set respectable times, we feel the 53 year old Von Gottrop is there only for his money
Donkervoort bought the fantastic Benetton chassis but the Life engine with it's funny W12 configuration is likely to bring them problems , however the talented Mallon and rising star Macklin could bring the car to speed.
Teams travelling to Spain
The teams are all off to Spain as they do the first test of the season. This will be the first time that the cars will be driven in anger and teams hope that their packages are competitive. We are very excited in seeing the new cars and their lap times which will determine the order of the teams as well as which teams will need to prequalify.

Theodore Roos wrote:I'm very pleased with how today went. We focused mostly on low-fuel runs for me, but still I am delighted with how the car performed. Given that I haven't raced since my F3000 accident at Pergusa, to be topping the timesheets by over a second in the morning is a great encouragement. Obviously, there is still room for improvement with both the car and my driving, but I think we should be a solid force this year.
Ryan McReynolds wrote:I kinda wrecked the suspension on the kerbs early in the morning session, and we spent most of the time there just fixing it. Thing is, even afterwards, I was kinda wary of not doing that again, so I wasn't pushing as much as I could've. I focused more on long runs, just gaining experience with F1 cars, and I was happy with the car, but if we're going to challenge at the front we need to iron out the aero. I'm frustrated to be so far behind Ted already, but given that I'm 4th fastest overall and that I've spent my career focusing on IndyCars, it's not that bad. I don't see any way for me other than forward.
Jimmy McJimmerson wrote:I think it needs to be said that we took a gamble on hoping two young chargers would live up to their potential, and it certainly seems to have paid off. Ted showed a hell of a lot of maturity today, which is never a bad thing for a 25-year old, and he wasn't far off setting fastest in both sessions. His crash had a lot of similarity to the one that ended my career, but thanks to the improved safety, he's able to keep going, and if anything, he's quicker than he was before his crash. Ryan was unfortunate to have lost so much track time right at the formative stage of his F1 career, but he bounced back quite well in the afternoon. He's more used to IndyCars, so it'll take some time for him to show his full potential, but he's a very determined guy. He should close the gap between himself and Ted quickly. As for the car, it's performed even better than expectations. We got a lot of running in today, and though we have to wait for the other teams to go to see exactly where we are, it all looks good for us meeting or even exceeding our goal of 4th in the Constructors' Championship
Guillaume Gauthier wrote:I'm very pleased with how today went. You're always a little nervous putting a rookie in your car, but I think we hired the right guys for the job. Both of them showed already that they could both be World Champions in the future. Ted was quick and consistent, while Ryan set incredible pace for someone who has raced outside of North America exactly once. He's more, eh, angry in his driving than Ted, and paid for that this morning, but he can learn from that and hopefully find a balance that will not result in too many damaged cars! Jimmy and the engineers and mechanics should all pat themselves on the back, they've done a great job in setting up the car and keeping Ted and Ryan on the track and setting good times. That said, we shouldn't rest on our results here, the first race is still a way off, and we need to maximise our early season chances and start our season correctly.

The two tests have been good and it will be exciting to see if anyone is keeping their cards close to their chest before we hed off to Brazil for the frist race. In the mean time here is our assesment on how the teams may improve.
Fighting Mongooses - To be fair the chassis looks fantastic and the engine sounds fantastic. The question will be if the drivers can driver a whole race?
Aurora - The car does look great with a fantastic engine, Mils could use some improvement.
European - A good choice of chassis and engine have brought some fantastic times so far but the question is can Pieter Kickert do a whole race and will he be consistant at every race?
Benetton Formula - The chassis does seem to be slower around the corners then the top cars and Jones does look a worse driver.
JLD - The engine does sound down on power compared to some of the top teams, although the chassis is fantastic, Garwon does need fitness and driver training.
Phoenix - The chassis could use some improvement it does look dated and we believe drag on the straights.
Sunshine - Mitchell Winson should be doing much better, he needs to shape up.
Chicago F1 - The chassis does seem skitish and Waladi looks out of his depth.
Stavros - The engine does need more power as it is slower then the 043 used by JLD and Chicago. Drivers need a good talking to.
EXTRAS - The chassis does seem skitish, both drivers could use training.
Foxdale - The engine does seem fast, but the chassis we think is much slower around corners. Von Gottorp has a question mark on his health.
Donkervoort - The engine is in major need of power as it is the slowest engine on the track.
Hungrian Life - The chassis needs some major upgrades, the wings seem unsuitable.
West Midland F1 - The engine is not much faster then the Life and does need some major work.
Zimsport - The chassis seems to oversteer and understeer, and seems to be allergic to corners.
Welsh Motor Racing - Chassis seems to not to want to turn into corners quickly.
Russian Bears - The engine needs more power and the chassis does require upgrades. Sarkozy needs a kick up the bottom.
Clio Racing - Chassis is ugly and slow, the engine is heavy and slow and Zetticci needs to be read the riot act.
