Extremely interesting ... guys, if the whole F1 Rejects Team goes to Spa 25 doesn't work, we take this. 500 $ + flights + hotel (if needed) + safety stuff ... still cheaper than the whole Spa thingy.

...you just found this? It's been in the news across the states for several years now. I went to the last event at Texas Motor Speedway to watch, planning to go next time as a driver.

Interestingly, I believe this is the only series in which all the races are 24-hour races...

I bump this thread for great justice! :D
Seriously. Since we might have a bit of a problem to raise 15.000 euros for a VW Fun Cup, this looks like something we actually can afford. Aaaand, it looks like so much fun.
It's not as pro as the VW thingy, but we (or at least most of us) are not pros either

If there was a European-based version of this series I'd be there. Right now. But the flight costs will be so high it will cost me just as much as the VW Fun Cup basically :|

Well, we have enough Americans on our forum to form "F1 Rejects Team USA". Hell yes! :D

That Other Forum That's All About Top Gear, Fifth Gear And The Like has entered a car at LeMons before... maybe more than once. I say go for it.

This is epic. And I think I could find easily a car to match that. Now, what is missing is their coming to Europe...

You know what? We don't need to wait for them to bring the series here. We should just do it ourselves.

I don't know about other UK/EU tracks, but here's a price list to hire the entire Knockhill circuit;

Code: Select all
APRIL - OCTOBER   Rate
Monday - Friday   Full Day £7,500    Half Day £4,000
Saturday          Full Day £9,000    Half Day £5,000
Sunday            Full Day  £12,000  Half Day £7,000
Evening 2 Hours   £1,700

NOV/DEC/MAR       Rate
Monday - Friday   Full Day £5,625    Half Day £3,000
Saturday          POA
Sunday            POA

JANUARY/FEBRUARY  Rate
Monday - Friday   Full Day £3,750    Half Day £2,000
Saturday          POA
Sunday            POA

If we could formulate a business plan amongst ourselves to find a way to break even on the hire (which includes marshals and medical cover, by the way). carbon copy the format of 24 Hours of LeMons (I'm somewhat sure they wouldn't care that we are "stealing" their idea) & their regs and bish bash bosh, we have a genuine reject series, free of competition licenses.

Absolutely. But being this F1Rejects the chosen vehicles should be lawnmowers. Old lawnmowers. It's just to top LeMons because we are that competitive in being rejects.

I've actually heard of this before, but didn't post it because I didn't think anyone would be all that interested.

Here's a video of Sears Pointless from last March; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKVkPayb4qQ
...and here's another video displaying some of the cars: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Xst_fu4Vak (Wait for the 95 car to come up, it's awesome)

I've been to events sort of like this on a short oval a few hours from me, which featured many insane events, like a school bus race, and a hornet race (the only real rule was the car had to be painted yellow and black).

I saw one of said school bus races on Speed a few years back. The start was insane, one of the buses ended up on it's side, but the last few laps were rather mundane with everyone spread out.

I'd imagine that Illiana (the track I was at for aforementioned bus race) is not the only track to hold such a ridiculous event. It was a decent race if I recall rightly.

Better. :)

But just to improve it further, how about doing this:

Magic!

But I suggest a field of those with a few T97/30's and FA1L's thrown in for good measure!!!
