Indeed. It's one thing for Villeneuve with no experience in the cars to light up the rears and spin back on track, but for an experienced driver like Dumbrell, it was awful.

Moffat and D'Alberto were also very rejectful in that race! I can't remember ever seeing a car scared off the road like Tony was!

Anyway, it was a great weekend to be at, I was there all three days. My grandstand was at Turn 8, so I saw plenty of action, including passes for the lead on Saturday and the crash of Will Davison on Sunday. While Eastern Creek should be on the calendar somewhere, I think Homebush offers a more interesting challenge for the season finale.

The Queenslanders have too many races. They can afford to drop Ipswich - Eastern Creek is at least entertaining!

Given that Jason had been fighting so hard and continued to race whenever he could, the news of his death is such a terrible shock. :cry:

I honested expected to see him back in a V8 Supercar full time one day.

Here he was on the podium after winning a Group C touring car race at the Muscle Car Masters back in September:

If I'm right, this was the last time he graced the top step of a podium. I feel privileged to have captured the moment.

My thoughts are with his fans, friends and family, especially his wife and two daughters.

The motorsport community is in mourning again. Rest in peace, Jason. :cry:

Despite not following the V8 Supercar championship it is always sad to see a racing driver pass away. It was ultimately a race for his life and he sadly lost it. Rest in peace Jason Richards.

So what has happened to Andrew Thompson? Did the job last year for Triple 8 and has now disappeared! Scott Pye, who raced in British F3 (pretty good prospect) will drive the Fujistu Monster car this year - wonder why he hasn't been given a shot at the enduros? Dumbrell is a disaster waiting to happen, Sydney last year basically summed him up in a nut-hsell - great speed, but prone to turn into Andrea de Cesaris.

Thompson was in talks with Tekno for the #91, but they broke down. I reckon he'll end up as an enduro driver somewhere (at the Kellys or GRM maybe), or if he's desperate he could go to LDM (they do have an ex-T8 chassis now - albeit one assembled by Paul Morris). Pye probably wasn't given a shot in the enduros because he's never driven a V8 before - he spent the last few years in Europe (yet another Aussie who ran out of money - and he had support from Roland Dane.)

The lead runner for the #55 is supposedly Dave Reynolds (unless the Kellys are right and he actually does have a contract for this year), but after him then it could be virtually anyone who raced at the GC600. A few have expressed interest in racing full time, or at least at Sandown and Bathurst (Salo, I think, and Patrick Long).
