However, I've decided to ditch the rule which prevents teams from upgrading their cars mid-weekend, so I'll apply those upgrades for tomorrow's Feature race.

Fern Bay GP - Qualifying - Round 1

Andrea Battani's luck has finally run out, as he was promptly blocked by Kustova, ending his qualifying in Q1 (although grid penalties are likely to make him climb back in the order).

Fern Bay GP - Qualifying - Round 2

Prost is blocked by Tojo, and Jancker by Fukuda.

Fern Bay GP - Qualifying - final results

Due to the large amount of grid penalties, some of them were bound to interfere with each other. Here's the reasoning behind the final positions:

Stern would've dropped 7th, but because Yamamura and Larsen both had penalties of their own, he starts from 5th place instead.
Yamamura would've dropped 10th, but because Larsen, Dorval and Carlisle had penalties of their own, he starts from 7th place instead.
Larsen would've dropped 12th, but because Dorval, Carlisle, Garfünkel and Prost had penalties of their own, he starts from 8th place instead (lucky bastard).
Prost would've dropped 17th, but because Dorval, Carlisle, Garfünkel and Jancker had penalties of their own, he starts from 13th place instead (lucky bastard).
Dorval would've dropped 18th, but because Carlisle, Garfünkel and Jancker had penalties of their own, he starts from 15th place instead.
Carlisle would've dropped 20th, but because Jancker and Garfünkel had penalties of their own, he starts from 18th place instead.
Jancker's position after the penalty would've been 24th and Garfünkel's 26th, however because both are impossible, they start at 19th and 20th, respectively.

After a bit of consideration: yes, they do apply to the sprint race as well. This is to prevent someone actually having an advantage because of a penalty. Because the AI sucks at overtaking in LFS, the cars usually finish quite close to their original grid positions, unless something special (an accident, for example) happens. So if a car qualifies badly because of a penalty, it usually has a good grid position for the Sprint race when the list of finishers is reversed.

Fern Bay GP - Feature Race

Standings after 16 laps:

A largely uneventful race. Hannesson cruises to an easy victory, and takes the first ever hat trick and Grand Chelem of current RoLFS history. Johnson looked set for a podium finish, but a brain fart after his pit stop - ramming into the behind of longer-pitting Kibbutz instead of cruising past him - cost him the 3rd place. Meanwhile at the back, Prost dropped last after being squeezed by Battani at the start, but most of the race he spent behind Garfünkel, in 18th place. But his pit stop took longer than others, dropping him back to 20th again, and he only managed to get past Buyvolov in the few laps remaining after that.

Grid for tomorrow's Sprint race will be as follows:

* 5-place grid penalty
** 10-place grid penalty
*** 15-place grid penalty

Fern Bay GP - Sprint Race

Standings after 17 laps:

Yet another largely uneventful race provided by this circuit - it seems that there aren't enough good overtaking spots on the Fern Bay circuit.

At the start, Battani almost forces Kustova on the grass, forcing her to brake and drop to 10th. Prost gets past Jung by having a better start. Further back most of the cars have to brake hard because of the traffic in the first corner. Kibbutz spins after being hit from the back by Jancker, while Pascal has to stop his car completely to avoid colliding with others in the chicane. As a result they drop 20th and 19th. After this the race start to takes shape, and for most of the laps the situation stays the same: Takagi tries to overtake Buyvolov for 1st, but can't, while Battani harasses Fukuda for 3rd and Prost harasses Battani for 4th. The drivers are really lacking cojones and abort many overtaking attempts that could've easily been succesful. Kibbutz, having a clear track because of a large gap to all drivers ahead of him, posts the best lap of the race early on, and it stays that way up to the finish. Hannesson is overtaken by both Dorval and Stern on lap 14 after his failed overtaking attempt over Jancker. Soon after, Battani brakes after a failed overtaking attempt over Fukuda in the last corner, and Prost easily gets past him. After this the order stayed the same: Buyvolov takes his second Sprint race win, Takagi gets 2nd in a solid drive despite being a replacement driver, Fukuda holds on to 3rd place despite major pressure by Battani and Prost and finishes his replacement drive on a high note. Prost gets the final point, leaving Battani to have his first weekend without a single point scored. Kibbutz gets the point for fastest lap despite finishing last.

After two GPs it looked like Battani and CaM Racing would walk away with both championships, but this weekend made everything open again. Championship standings to follow tomorrow.

Considering Fukuda now has points to his name with a 3rd place finish, we are happy for Grands Travaux Inutiles to retain him as second driver, as long as Stefan Kuntz returns to us as test driver, or Simon Garfunkel becomes our reserve driver if you want to kick him out instead :lol:

Or spend them on engine instead of chassis, as engine upgrades increase the performance much more than chassis upgrades.

I need to rethink the upgrade prices for then next season, make engine ones cost more and chassis ones cost less.

Well Kuntz hasn't done much better than Garfünkel to be honest, they usually collide with each other...
But Fukuda's pace had been very good, so he stays for the rest of this season.

Kyoto Ring GP - Free Practice 1

Prost's time was completely superior, especially considering that on his first fast lap he spun off and damaged his car somewhat heavily. But these cars seem to only get better from that, as is evidenced by his lap time being two and a half seconds faster than anyone else's. I would be worried if I were the Ural team boss; if Prost keeps this kind of speed up, and the Urals fail to improve their own, they're in line to be the first DNQs in RoLFS history by falling out of the 104% limit!

Kyoto Ring GP - Qualifying - Round 1

The Urals seemed to be on a mission to prevent the Nordic drivers from continuing their qualifying. Hannesson managed to get into Q2 with the skin of his teeth despite heavy blocking by Kustova, while Larsen couldn't find a way around Buyvolov and was left 18th in the grid. Prost posts another excellent time. Megumi returns strongly after her penalty by getting her Takagi into 6th position.

Kyoto Ring GP - Qualifying - Round 2

Pascal had an absolutely horrendous second session, and almost blocked his team mate in the process. Megumi couldn't keep up with the faster cars now that there was more room, and was left into 13th position while her team mate impressed with a fine 8th position. Fukuda was another surprise entry into Q3.

Kyoto Ring GP - Qualifying - Round 3

Both Aeroracing cars failed to improve their times, and were overtaken by both Zimsports as a result. Battani finally got his car working, but was still almost two seconds behind from the Ultimate cars who seemed to be flying around the long but fast Kyoto Ring track.

With performance gaps like this, the race has full potential to become either a dull-fest or absolute carnage. Feature race to start at 17:00 UTC.

With 11 credits, you can only afford one chassis upgrade. It has now been added to your car and 10 credits have been removed from your account.

Kyoto Ring GP - Feature Race

Standings after 14 laps:

The red lights are beginning to come off... and they're off! A good start for everyone, no collisions so far. They're now coming to the first corner, Prost gets through without trouble, as does Johnson, Battani, Stern, Hannesson... but Kibbutz spins! Kibbutz spins off in the first corner! And hits Tojo in the process, who then gets hit by Fukuda! Garfünkel has to brake to avoid colliding with Kibbutz, and gets passed by both Jones Racing cars. Kibbutz is dropped down to 17th... MY GOODNESS, he rejoins the track right in front of Kustova, causing a chain reaction which causes Larsen to spin and get hit by Buyvolov! Now Kibbutz, Larsen and Tojo have all spun! It seems that all can resume racing, though. After the first lap, the Ultimate Racing cars have already pulled a gap of three seconds to Battani! On lap 2 Kibbutz has already caught the Urals of Kustova and Buyvolov, and is now looking for a chance to overtake. On the main straight, Hannesson gets into the slipstream of his team mate Stern aaaaaaannnnnd... gets past him! At the end of lap 3, Pascal sticks near Megumi, gets into the slipstream and overtakes her on the main straight! A lap later Kibbutz repeats the same with Kustova! It's the end of lap 6, and Pascal gets past Bosevic on the main straight. Lap 8 begins, and the Ultimates have already built a massive 13-second gap to Battani. Pascal continues his rise by getting past Dorval, again on the main straight. Meanwhile, at the back Garfünkel also gets past Jung. Lap 10, and Ultimate and Coke & Magnum come in to make their mandatory pitstops. Everything seems to go fine, no problems at all. The Ultimate cars rejoin the track 1st and 2nd, their gap to the ZimSports was long enough to allow that. Andrea Battani rejoins the track in 7th, while Pascal drops to 20th and last. On the next lap, all the other cars pit in as well. Some of the pitstops take longer because of damage repairs, while the Hydooks, Megumi and Fukuda fight for position on the pitlane! After the pitstops, the order is PRO-JOH-BAT-HAN-STE-YAM-JAN-PAS-BOS-MEG-FUK-DOR-CAR-GAR-JUN-BUY-LAR-KIB-KUS-TOJ. Pascal manages to slipstream past Jancker when both begin their last lap.

After this, no positions change. Prost leads home a dominant 1-2 for Ultimate Racing, but misses the fastest lap of the race, courtesy of his team mate Johnson, by two hundreths of a second. Battani gets home 3rd with a wide margin in both directions, while the ZimSports get another double points finish with 4th and 5th. Yamamura fetches the last point by finishing 6th, while Pascal makes a great rise from 14th on the grid to 7th, but still narrowly out from the points.

After the race, the RoLFS Commission has decided to give Brucie Kibbutz a 5-place grid penalty in tomorrow's Sprint race for causing an avoidable collision with Kustova in the first corner.

Nope, no sabotaging on your cars. Like I've said earlier, the balance between the chassis and engine upgrade prices is completely off, and it needs a serious rethinking. Their prices are going to drastically change next season, along with a bunch of other rule changes.

Oh, and as a result of your false sabotage claim, your cars will receive a 5-second penalty in tomorrow's race.

Well, with the maximum 19 point/credit haul from this race, and with 14 credits on your account before that combining to a total of 33, you can afford two engine upgrades. Want to go ahead with that?
