Zanardi aiming for paralympics

My all time favourite driver, I was a huge fan while he was driving in Champcars and had to stop watching the series after his terrible crash in Germany. I just couldn't watch the oval races after that.

I also once saw him in person cleaning his helmet in the Lotus garage in Montreal. He was pretty shy but did talk to us fans hanging around in the entrance to the garage, back in the good old days when we could just walk into the pits after the race was over.

F1, CART, marathons, paralympics and an F1 reject to boot. What can Zanardi not do? Hope he does well!

Nope, he can do that too. I recall him walking through a gravel trap at Brno a few years ago.
Nissanymania! Friday has never been the same since.

The car in front is a Stefan.

He does. One of the most emotional moments in the WTCC was in one of his victories, he was walking to the podium and, in the midst of the celebrations, he tripped and fell. Everyone sort of froze and rushed to help him, but he signalled them to stop, got up in a couple of seconds and, before you knew it, he was celebrating again.
Stay home, Colin Kolles!

Its a terrible shame that he's an F1 reject, the only real upside is that we can look upon his remarkable career whenever on this site. A true hero, one to be admired.

This is the Road Cycling at Brands Hatch that he's competing in, isn't it? Not the track cycling in the velodrome?

Like the intro on here says, Zanardi is "One of the true heroes of motorsport"

The first interesting thing to come out of the bore-fest that is the Olympics. Ive always thought the Olympics incredibly over-rated and boring but it turns out that when its held in your own country the dull-factor increases exponentially.

Where was I?

Oh yes.

Go on Alice! I'll be cheering him on, what a legend :D :D :D

Alessandro Zanardi, sporting god. Look for him to become the NWBA's Michael Jordan by 2020.

Best of luck to him.

I think tickets for the Paralympics events at Brands are still available aren't they? Really tempted to go if so.

I have a 2012 MSV Fixture Guide booklet, which states that you can obtain tickets (£10/day) by calling 0844 847 2012.

If a newbie had posted that, I would have thought:

This story warms my heart. Such an inspirational figure :)
The 1990s were better. Fact. And you bloody well know it.

Murray Walker: There's a car coming into the pits now, they're so unreliable with all those electronics on board.
James Hunt: Actually, Murray, one of his wheels has just fallen off...

Best news all year! And it's reminded me to finally buy his autobiography, which should be a compelling read.

P.S. Honey-flavoured spam? :?
