Has Schumi got his mojo back?

Postby DSedgwick » 11 Apr 2012, 21:58

Been pondering whether to have a punt of Schumi to outqualify Rosberg at the CHina GP.
Recent form suggests Schu may be finally getting to grips with the Merc (and with Nico).

Wondered whether to have a few quid on these two:

Schumacher to outqualify Rosberg:
between 0.400 - 0.599 - 16/1
between 0.800 - 0.999 - 33/1

The second bet seems a tad optimistic, but I'm tempted by that 16/1 - what does anyone think?
Can Schumi keep up the good work or has his start to the season been a flash in the pan?

By over 4 tenths? Not unless Nico makes a very big mistake in Q.

Considering Nico's two from two for stuffing up his Q3 lap, chances are it'll probably happen

It can. One should consider that Rosberg is currently portraying the symptoms of a mild fisichellitis case.

It doesn't help that Mercedes are still employing the retarded strategy of sending their drivers out for only one flying lap in Q3 when all the other top teams do two!
That's right Eddie, that was me with the banner, Spanish GP, 2002. This pile of legal forms won't fill itself in you know...

I think Rosberg's Fisichellaitis is well beyond mild now - he's showing signs of the dreaded Nick Heidfeld syndrome.

I think they have to really, because of the tyre issues they've been having. Pole position is meaningless if you will just end up in 8th by the first pitstops.

Just noticed possibly a better punt from the same people:

Raikkonen to outqualify Grosjean between 0.600 - 0.799
at 16/1 - surely more chance of this than Schumi doing the same to Nico??

Then again Romain has been right on Kimi's pace - when he manages to get
more than a couple pf laps together.

Yes, it's sad - if he can't recover, he'll never win a race.

It's NHS indeed. This one also includes as symptoms a winless F1 career and a slightly boring figure, which can be seen in Rosberg.

He's not exciting enough to be the next Nick Heidfeld.

How apt that Nick Heidfeld Syndrome shares an acronym with the National Health Service...

Which is a crying shame, especially as Keke was one of the most exciting drivers of all time in F1

Explain how it's apt.

Nick Heidfeld will often be anonymous during races.
Many patients can feel anonymous within the NHS.

Nick Heidfeld never won anything, but could be relied on to deliver steady results fairly compentently.
The NHS is never going to be the best at anything, but will provide a steady, free (at the point of delivery) service fairly compentently.

Hopefully you didn't lose too much money!

I guess China is probably one of Rosberg's strongest circuits, and one of Schumacher's weakest, so in hindsight, maybe it could've been predicted.

Nick Heidfield never took a pole. No way he can be as exciting as Nico!

Incidentally enough, on fuel-corrected times, the other Williams of Webber would have started on pole.

Indeed. The only way to be sure is if he's in a championship-capable car, which the Mercedes may yet be.

We will have to see what Schumi does and if Rosberg can win again or not. Until now he looks good for his Fisichellitis possible case.

I can understand his grievance with the Pirelli tyres. I was hoping to see a Schumi Special in Bahrain with him fighting from 22nd into a podium or something like that, but I think the tyres really prevented that. I know some people and teams are better at this than others, and he and Mercedes do need to sort that out, but the Pirellis just don't suit his driving style.

Given the Mercedes speed it would be terribly disappointing if he doesn't make the podium this year, and I'm hoping he may even sneak a win before he retires again.

He almost certainly will ge a podium, and a win is likely as well. So far it was mechanical failures or accidents that kept him away, not lack of skill or a lousy car.
Michael Schumacher: Sorry about that Frank, I saw a Brazilian in a Williams and I couldn't help myself, by the time I realised it wasn't Rubens we were in the gravel.
