Well I for one deactivated my Facebook account last week.

For the socially inactive among us it's just depressing.

Calling me socially inactive? :o

Actually, you may not be too far wrong. All it enables me to do is to keep up to speed with some of my acquantancies back at home while I am away at uni. Otherwise, it is a lot of dross, even from my uni mates! (Unless it is discussing assignments, of course, away from the official module discussion boards, which the module leaders respond to with official guidance...).

Yeah, damn kids! I'm 19, so you be the judge of whether that's hypocritical.

You barely escape. I am thinking 15 years old. That supposed talk is perhaps exaggeration, but my sister was 15 years old two years ago and told similar stories...

When I was 15, only the most extreme geeks had the internet. Only they knew what it was. Probably the closest thing to the internet I'd seen at the time was Prestel.

Yeah, I don't think I've mentioned my actual age on this forum before. Now that I think about it, I joined the forum in 2009 which makes me the original youngest member of the forum! If Jeroen were still here, he would be quite annoyed.

So if none of us really care that much about Facebook, why don't we all follow shinji's lead? (Although I have already decided to do so in two years' time...)

And I remember shinji being picked on in 2009 for being one of the youngsters on this forum at the time...

I tell you why I keep facebook. When I have a bad day at work, social life or whatever (come on, it happens to all of us), I go on facebook and read everyone else's terrible, meaningless and pointless statuses and immediately feel btter about my life.

It's like watching Jeremy Kyle or The Springer Show. No matter how shite your day can be, it's probably better than the toothless numpties you see on those shows.

Call me whatever you want, but I'll bet I'm not alone...

Facebook isn't too bad for me nowadays, after I de-friended all of the 'plastics' (girls who wear tons of make-up, gossip about anything, and generally not very nice people, as well as being dumb as shite) and chavs last year.

Just be thankful that most on the youngsters here are surprisingly mature for their age. That being said, I've probably progressed from a surprisingly mature 13 year old when I joined to a surprisingly immature not quite 17 year old over my time on the forum.

I'm 18 and I kinda rely on facebook, mainly on the events bit because we usually organise parties and pub trips.

The one annoying thing is those couple of girls that are laid more times than a pile of bricks blaming the entire male population for their boyfriend cheating on them. What goes around comes around, I suppose.
