It's just that I spent a long time getting my time down to a 1:47.1 and it surprises me that people would be happy with a run where they lost a lot of time due to a big mistake. Surely that should be a spur to improve your time further? Or have I missed the point and I should have just submitted the first half-decent complete run I managed?

Oh. Dirt Fox Racing Project (powered by Mecha Grand Prix) will enter Onodera Ikari, driving Paolo Andreucci's Lancer Evo IX.
(And now I've got TMNF to work using the tmtp:// URI)

TMMRC announces Manufacturer championship
After TMRRC canned the teams' championship, the organising body has decided to instead replace it with a manufacturers championship. Confirmed entrants so far are Ford, Citroen, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Lancia, Toyota and Porsche, however the German marque will struggle with only one car with which to score points. French manufacturers Peugeot and Reanult are also said to be interested in joining the championship, but have yet to put forward any entries to the series.

As for times, I don't know, maybe some people felt they were faster making a mistake and hitting something than slowing down deliberately for it. I can believe that in the case of a couple of drivers, only MinardiFan's run confuses me as he hit the barriers several times. I think some people forget that optimum racing lines apply on dirt as well as asphalt!
Hydook Rally Team Publicocrap Release wrote:Hydook targets Monte-Carlo podium to kick title challenge into gear
A new-born Hydook World Rally Team begins its 2012 campaign tomorrow on the most famous rally of all. The classic Rallye Monte-Carlo will provide the Hydook squad with what could be the most unpredictable fixture of the 10-round campaign.
Twenty-nine-year-old Bosevic, who is going to have his official debut on rally stages in Monaco, is hoping to gain confidence on rally stages as the season goes.
"This is completely incomparable to anything I've ever done before", he said. "What is more, I will be competing with drivers who are far more experienced and therefore faster, but given my adapting skills I will not disappoint. Hell, I think podium finish is within grasp."

Brilliant highlights, indeed. Very impressed

This is an occurence where time can be saved by using a rise or fall in the road as a launch ramp to cut a single corner. I need to clarify that as I know for a fact there will be some of said jumps in Rally Norway, and possibly other events as well.

Is there one of these at Stage 1 Monte Carlo, or is that not actually possible to do? (You must know which section I mean)

Also the author medals are really inconsistent. The last 2 I beat on my 1st attempt....
