O'rly? I don't think anything Wirth/Simtek have ever designed can be considered rediculously bad.......

Hello? Simtek S921? Are you new here?
Yeah, it was run by one of the worst teams in the sport, but still...it clearly wasn't a fast car.

Ehm... I seriously doubt you can blame anyone outside Sassetti for the shortcomings of Andrea Moda.
Besides, even McLaren mp4/4 woulda been dead slow had it been ran by Andrea Moda in 1988. I mean, they had no spares, no maintenance... not even enough Dry tyres for two drivers for crying out loud :D

Yeah, it's a bit of Hollywood propaganda that the US somehow saved our necks - not true at all, but they like to think it, bless 'em.

But there is an anti-US "Americans are dumb" snobbery which I can't abide: the idea that the only thing America gives us is fast food and Jerry Springer. Some of the most intelligent and insightful people I know are American - in fact, the cleverest person I know, with a genius-level IQ, is both American and a blonde... go figure that one out! They're more to US films than Hollywood blockbusters, there's more to US TV than Springer, there's more to US music than Kid Rock or Mariah Carey.

Yeah well, the unfortunate thing is that the "Stupid, dumb american" is the most vocal and most attention-attracting portion of the population.
and as they seem to be the most numerous, people easily get the feeling all americans are idiots.

I get that self-same feeling living in Britain, though! :) If you don't know what I mean, try working in retail.

Oh for F1's sake don't discuss about which country is better ;)
Everybody knows it's Spain!

Silly things aside, the S921 was a pretty car, and could have been very competitive. I think the Manor will be a good chassis but let's pray they won't be afflicted by "Wirth's disease" :)

Wirth did build one great car, but it wasn't in F1.
The Acura ARX-02a was 1st and 2nd in this year's ALMS (albeit with only 2 Lolas and a Ginetta-Zytek for competition) and the Acura ARX-01B (the 02a's predecessor but smaller) was LMP2 champion (even less impressive with only the Dyson Lola for company in class).

Though the 02a is probably one of the best LMP1 car around without a diesel motor in the back, along with the Lola-Aston Martin.

The car would have pretty good if Honda had earmarked more money to it. Unfortunately, the Acura racing program may have already been axed. The car's 4.0l engine was too small to compete with the Lola-Astons on faster tracks but the ARX-02a was designed around ALMS and their short, high-downforce tracks - even the diveplanes were integral to the body mold. The car produced significant downforce for a prototype and Scott Sharp tested the strength out to prove the integrity of the car (check youtube for that one).
Nissanymania! Friday has never been the same since.

The car in front is a Stefan.

I know that ain't true, the one American I know is very bright and helped the Obama campaign in their last election. Its just a shame they grab all the world's oil and have dumb politicians championing their cause. Having a president who relied on astrology to decide whether to bomb countries or not also doesn't help (that was Reagan, btw).

Getting back to the original topic, USF1 are denying that their car won't be ready in time.

I have just read that USF1 paid their admission fees to enter the 2010 F1 championship:

Umm.......Ok....I just read the Updat F1 article......oh hell, I'll post it there..........

The reports also said Windsor, the new Charlotte-based team's sporting director as well as a formula one journalist, has left the door open to the possibility of selling the official team entry to another outfit.

"The report seemed to come out of Switzerland/Germany, the land of BMW-Sauber," he told the online magazine GPWeek, referring to the fact that the Hinwil based team has not yet been granted a guaranteed berth on the 2010 grid.

Windsor said "several" components for the 2010 car have been "successfully" crash-tested, and that more tests will take place this and next month.

He denied he recently voted in favour of having the ability to sell USF1's entry, and also shed doubt on the context of quotes attributed to Ross Brawn, where the Brackley based team's boss seemed to question whether USF1 will be ready to debut next March.

"Back in the real world, we're re-furbishing some trucks we've just bought from Brawn," said Windsor.

"As for USF1 Team, I can only repeat what Ken (Anderson) and I have been saying ever since we signed the Concorde Agreement: our slot is not for sale under any circumstances and we will be racing, and giving it 100 per cent, from Bahrain onwards."

Now.....Someone point out the GLARING WTF?! part of this story, just so I know I'm not seeing things....

Hmm... so Brawn sold some trucks to USF1... does that mean that Brawn are going to give in to Jenson's demands afterall? :P

I think Brawn just wants to belittle the team's confidence and the media's confidence in them just to take their attention away from Jenson Button not being signed to drive for Brawn yet.

Based on that one, I've a much better (i.e. crazier) theory: Brawn pointed these "troubles" out to cause an investigation at USF1, which (from Brawn POV) hopefully would have the team excluded from the championship, therefore avoiding Jenson Button leaving Brawn to earn quite a lot of money at USF1, as the deal has already been made and only waits to be publicised. :D
