Morbidelli's assessment of Taki Inoue

Postby minrdi » 31 Jan 2010, 16:18

I've just had the immense privilege of interviewing Gianni Morbidelli, but must confess I was a little reluctant to ask him about his 1995 Footwork team-mate (and F1 Reject), Taki Inoue.

Gianni had these measured - but fair - words to offer: "I was working for the team, not to compete against my team-mate. Taki was a choice of the team and I can only say that he was a good guy."

Gianni gave a great, frank interview - the full transcript can be read here: http://www.blognow.com.au/richardsF1/Legends_Pitstop_Interviews/

Apologies to the webmasters if am breaking any posting guidelines with this half-assed plug - I just wanted to share a little bit of F1 Rejects love!

Not at all - that's cool. We welcome sharing of F1 Rejects love! I'll read the interview in full when I get the chance!

I just want to know how you scored the interview and perhaps whether there are some contacts out there that can lead to more interviews with rejects themselves! ;)
I was born the day after HWNSNBM. Given time zone differences, we may have been born at the same time.

I contacted him through his official website, pitched the idea and he took it. I've managed to get in direct touch with several few ex-F1 drivers (none of them rejects, sadly!) and am in the process of trying to land the deal with some, but have already got others lined up and will publish them when they're conducted.

One will hit the site next week, but you have already interviewed this man in question (being Allen Berg).

Quite a few of the F1 rejects are still competing and many have official websites that make it relatively easy to attempt contact with them - I'd suggest trying that line of attack, it worked for me!

Would really appreciate everyone's feedback / comments if you read it; this website caper is new to me and I'm nowhere yet near the level of F1 Rejects' content, quality and readership!

Does he think that F1 drivers are generally being rushed to the sport too quickly these days?

Another is happening today and will be posted to the site within 24-48 hours.

I'm hoping to line up and have made contact with a few drivers already. It's likely that Emanuele Pirro could be the next cab off the rank, but a lot of this rests on their scheduling and the time differences between Australia and Europe.

Pleased to announce that Allen Berg's interview is up on the site and can be viewed here: http://www.blognow.com.au/richardsF1/239999/EXCLUSIVE_INTERVIEW_Allen_Berg.html

Spoke to him for about an hour, and he's provided one of the most candid and honest interviews. He was a delight to talk to, and wanted to set the record straight after an unfair portrayal in last month's F1 Racing magazine. I hope a few of you have a read and enjoy!

A very interesting interview thank you. I particularly found the last papragraph about Schumacher's return to be facinating...

Allen Berg was a good driver but sadly in F1 it counts for nothing if you have no money or a good car/team. Same with Morbidelli.

Yep, why Deletraz didn't get a Williams drive. Ask him if he knows who HWNSNBM is.

Well, I've made a very big and very very interesting interview with belgian Philippe Adams two years ago. I found an updated profile of him almost by any chance in a Lotus site in early 2008 with the address of his e-mail. I sent him a message saying I was a journalist of a very big magazine here in Brazil and I was writing an article about belgian drivers and sent also quite a lot of questions. He answered me in the following day and I have it saved. I published it in my blog (www.bandeiraverde.com.br), but I have it in English, so I will post it in a different topic.

I was going to split this and create a new topic, but if you have the English version and want to do it yourself, go for it.
