Nay. Capelli got points in 1992 (somehow). Therefore, he's ineligible until 2012 or so.

, Markus Winkelhock IS actually the only driver in the last 20 seasons to meet the criteria of leading a race without earning a race win, a championship point or setting a fastest race lap.

Amazingly there are just 42 drivers who have lead a race lap in the last 20 seasons, according to statsf1.com.

That's shocking, although considering the domination of certain teams in recent seasons it's not wholly unbelievable.

But as PD said considering the dominance of certain teams (Williams, Ferrari, McLaren and Bennaton) it's not totally unbelieveable and it also shows just how far and few between freak results like this year are.

Of the current drivers, only Buemi, Nakajima and Sutil have never led a race.

Nakajima has been running 2nd, Buemi and Sutil 4th at best so far.

Nakajima was 2nd for a while in Canadian GP last year. After top runners pitted under safety car (and Hamilton crashed into Räikkönen), order was Heidfeld, Barrichello, Nakajima, Webber, Coulthard, Trulli, Glock, Fisichella and Vettel.

Heidfeld pitted on lap 29 giving Rubens the lead and Nakajima 2nd. Kazuki pitted on lap 33 and dropped back. Coulthard, Trulli and Glock also led the race for a short time.

I thought it was at the Hungarian Gp where Piquet finished 2nd, lead laps and avoided reject status all at once due to pit strategy.

Yep it was the German Gp. My bad. piquet did finish 6th in that race and he finished 4th in the Japanese GP. I think i was confusing one nearly impossible trace to pass on with another. I think i'm having an off day today with my stats

In fact, It was in 1990, a race he leaded until the very last laps (where he lost the lead to the Professor), but I didn´t read that the initial post said "No wins NEITHER points". My apologies.

But... coming to "top winless driver with more leading laps" matter, should be Capelli for the last 20 years, thanks to last Paul Ricard race in 1990. Or so i guess.

Yes. da Matta led 17 laps I think in Silverstone 2003. He pitted during first SC which was caused when DC lost something his cockpit protection and they were shattered on the track. After that it was only two laps or so before Neil Horan ran to the track. Rest of the drivers pitted and da Matta moved to the lead, having not lost significant amount of time in those green flag laps after first SC.
