Speaking of GP4 the other week I decided to do a full distance Australian GP in the Minardi of Alex Yoong. Qualified 9th in bone dry conditions and doing a 2 stop stratagy I finished 6th but was in contention for a poduim for most of the race. And this was hardest difficulty, realistics performace settings and dry weather all weekend

Bourdais nearly got a podium at Belgium '08 and Piquet got a legitimate 4th later in the year so not too unrealistic.

Piquet finished 2nd in Germany last year.... after starting 17th

That was a safety car gamble. He also got a legitimate 4th in Japan.

You aren't going to believe this either. In my GPM2 game, Diniz is 2nd in the Drivers Championship! :o
Then again, Morbidelli is leading the championship for Forti, even crazier perhaps?

He actually finished 9th in my GP4 Championship overall. His 4th in Belgium was pure skill, obviously the driver AI is inaccurate.

GPM2 is just taking the mick now...Morbidelli crashes in pit-lane during Quali and thus can't compete in the race, and Salo stalls at the start and retires from the race on the spot...now that's a Reject team...

I have finally escaped GPM2 rejectdom with a brilliant 1-2 result for Brawn at Melbourne in the 2009 mod. So far in the season, Nakajima has not qualified for a race, Grosjean has scored a pole position and then stalled on the startline, Kobayashi was on the podium at a race, Fisichella won for Force India at Silverstone and USF1 has scored a point.

It's one of the extra teams you can activate in the mod if you want (GPM2 has a maximum of 13 teams and a minimum of 10 teams).

I had to revive this because I finally got around to installing the F106 mod for GP4 and to test it out I decided to hop into Ide's SA-05 for a championship season. The last time I drove the Bahrain track on any game was last month so I decided to go straight to qualy  . Anyways on my first (And eventaully only good one because I spun at turn 3 all the other 3 attempts) run I put this s***box of a car 7th on the Grid. Yes 7th. And with only keyboard controls, hardest difficulty and realistic performance settings too

Qualified for the race, something that Life didn't manage to achieve in real life.
It is driven by British touring car championship driver Fabrizio Giovanardi and not Gary Brabham or Bruno Giacomelli.
It looks like a 1994 Ferrari, not a Life.
It is in a points scoring position on the last lap, something that Life could only dream about.

I finished second at the Monaco GP in the 2000 season on F1C 99-02 in Mazzacane's Minardi. Trulli won in the Jordan and I think Diniz in the Sauber was 3rd. Only 6 people finished, the woefully slow Gene managed to scrape the last point! :P

I finished 2nd with Takagi's Arrows at the Austrian GP in the 1999 season of F1 Career Challenge (the PS2 version of F1C 99-02). The race started off in very wet conditions and with a few laps to go, it stopped raining and the track dried out. I decided to stay out on wets while everyone else (except for eventual winner Hakkinen) pitted for slicks. I had passed Hakkinen (who was trying not to overheat his wets) and was leading until my tyre blew at the last corner.

I won in the rain at Monza in GP4 in Alex Yoong's Minardi...qualified on the front row  (This was on Ace btw, the hardest setting in the game)
I was lucky however when the three fastest cars that weekend pretty much self destructed their races - Montoya was on Pole and I diced with him throughout the first lap, bangning into him at every chicane - however Variante Ascari was the nail in his coffin - I could see him lining me up down the inside so braked slightly late but not too late, and Juan took the bait and binned it into the gravel trap and retired. Ralf Schumacher did the exact same thing on the following lap, and then on Lap 7 DC slid wide at Parabolica and wiped the front-left wheel off. Barrichello caught me with about 5 laps to go but tried a stupidly late braking move at Roggia which only ended in the gravel trap, allowing Hakkinen to pass for 2nd.
Another strange occurance in that race was M Schumacher finishing in 12th, behind Bernoldi

Haha well I joined up when the forum was first started but most of the way through 2009 I was busy with real world commitments so I didn't log in for ages hence the low number. I like to post only when I have something decent to contribute otherwise I can't really be asked... :P

Anyway back on topic and this afternoon, back in Mazzacane's Minardi I tackled Suzuka (opposition 100% difficulty, 100% aggression with most of the driver aids apart from tc and stability turned off). Qualified 5th in a wet qualy session and in a dry race was hopelessly off the pace of everyone around me, ended up binning it on the outside of 130R when Zonta came up the inside and overtook on the entry for something like 9th around lap 5ish, I'd already tried to squeeze him out but he got through and I was way off line for the corner, right on the inside so I ran wide on the exit, straight into the gravel and the barriers and out. Anyway it was the usual story of Ferraris, McLarens and Ralf's Williams up front, but after I retired, the result came up with Wurz the winner with about a 20 second gap to Michael in 2nd. Now at the point of my retirement Wurz was something like 15th so the only thing I can attribute this to is a late flurry of pitstops which Wurz chose to ignore and stay out due to a rain shower maybe, or it's a glitch. He has won unexpectedly at Imola before in another season I was playing so I'm thinking the latter...either way apart from a point for Fisichella at Monza that's the only other time Benetton have scored all season!

Now for something that doesn't happen only in a game...
The other day I was racing the Singapore GP on rFactor when Nelson Piquet Jr. spun off at turn 17 (Piquet Corner). Only difference is that Piquet is actually good on rFactor (he qualified on pole). However, Badoer won a race in the same mod so the talent files must be mixed up.

On the 2009 mod for GP4, Kubica is always on the front row in qualifying.

Ah, this thread is back. I was thinking about it after the Malaysian GP practice sessions where so many drivers seemed to go off at the exact same spot, as that reminded me of one occasion when I simmed a Malaysian GP in Grand Prix 3 back in 2001 or so.

So yeah, I had downloaded the Sepang track for the game, and the only way to make it work was to replace one of the original tracks. I replaced Barcelona because it's, well, Barcelona, but I didn't touch any of the AI drivers' performance data (I was using a 2001 carset as well). Then I started watching a race on the Sepang track with the AI drivers going at it... and watched in awe as at least one car would fly off the track at the exact same corner (which may or may not have been the same one where many drivers went wide in free practice this year, it was definitely a right hander) on every single lap, probably because I hadn't adjusted their setup and performance to match the track. To make matters worse, the runoffs of this user-created track were nowhere near as huge as those you'd see at a real-life Tilkedrome, so every lap saw at least one driver crashing into the wall there and retiring.

Well, every lap that could be completed, at least. I decided I'd had enough at some point and simmed the rest of the race using accelerated time... the race ended around lap 25 when EVERY driver had retired. And yeah, I'm fairly sure that every single driver in the race crashed out in that same corner.

Only in a game eh?

In my GP4 career I am a three time champion who's best result at monaco is 7th in 2005.
I won the title in 2005 for Williams, and am currently leading the 2006 championship, for Williams.
I won 5 races in 2004 for Toyota.
Toyota won 2 races in 2005 thanks to Jarno Trulli.
Jenson Button managed back to back victories at Monza and Suzuka in 2004.
Halfway through 2006 Fernando Alonso's career victory tally stands at 3, Jarno Trulli has 5!

In F104, you usually get a drive-through for corner-cutting, and get disqualified if you do it twice. But, in Montreal (this is in career mode), i'm second at the start of the last lap, in my Jordan, behind Barrichello (he's around 5 seconds up the road). I catch up 3 seconds up to the final hairpin, before doing what should have earned me a disqualification. Yep, i cut the last chicane, had a 100km/h advantage down the straight and won by 0.1 seconds. :?

McLaren-Ferrari with Fisichella and De La Rosa the race drivers... hell has well and truely frozen over.
