This race was the first I've seen this year with two pit stop periods, and those who pitted first won big time, most notably both MRTs. Only one racing incident occured, with Simpson losing control at turn 9, before being hit by Kekkonen and Steele, too busy battling to notice the floundering Minardi. Otherwise, a rather boring race until the last 10 or so laps, with a truly epic battle between Watkinson and Lon for the win. A somewhat ominous sign is this is now Lon's 5th 2nd of the season, but he's yet to post a win. But if we look at the standings:

Minardi/Sunshine Infiniti unveil yet another new livery
For the fourth time this season, the Minardi team have unveiled a new livery, this time in support of the Japanese natural disaster relief effort. The team were effected both physically and emotionally by the disaster. Some sponsors had to pull out because of the disaster, as it wasn't financially viable for them in times of rebuilding.

To say there was a little bit of attrition is an understatement. Every retirement, with the exception of Mori, Melrose and Cameron, was at Griffin's Bend or the Cutting, usually hitting the outside wall. Mori simply didn't brake at the Chase, and took Melrose with him. Cameron ended a simply brilliant battle with Katayama for fourth when they made light contact through the Esses, and Cameron was launched into the wall at the Dipper. In the end, De Bock won with what was the fastest remaining undamaged car. Actually, now that I think about it, are there two unrejectifications here?

Resi Respati, lone driver of Flying Fish Motorsports has confirmed that the team have secured Autobacs as their main sponsor. The Super Aguri car should be painted orange and white as the team's official livery, but to honor the victims of the Japan earthquake, the car will be painted simply white, with the red Rising Sun in both sides of the engine cover for the next race.

Subsequently, Flying Fish Motorsports have also signed FedEx as official logistics partner and Castrol as fuel & oil supplier.

"We believe that these array of new sponsors will help our development in the future." said Respati.

Pacchiarini finally wins! The Pacchia was actually competitive here, although it lost a bit of speed after the pit stops, while Spencer's Prospec gained some. A few battles raged all race, with the 11th-15th battle being the big one. Martins retired when he collided with Katayama at the hairpin, missing his braking point. He wasn't the only one to do that, but was the only one to hit someone.
